Our passports arrived in the mail today! Neither of us have ever had a passport before, and I am so excited to get mine stamped! I'm happy with my picture.....I just can't wrap my head around the fact that the next time I get a passport....I will be.......36. THIRTY SIX.
Holy crap.
In about six years I'm going to love this picture even more :)
It's snowing outside, but I'm dreaming of my passport taking me to a sandy beach....
My name is Kate. I'm an anti-bride.
This blog pertains to all things wedding related. I will talk about color swatches, cake testing, satin vs taffeta.....and most of all, the drama involved in planning a wedding.

Hotel Blocks
After Springwood (and sushi with my family) Fred and I went to look at the hotels we were considering for reserving room blocks. The three hotels I had set up tentative reservations at ranged in room rates from $119 a room down to $65 a room. We decided on the Comfort Inn in Harmarville. The rooms were very nice and clean, and they have a nice sized bar in the hotel that will be a great spot for an after party :)
I updated our wedding website with the information so that our guests know where they can stay!

Meeting with the venue
Today we went with my Mum and brother to meet with Springwood and their wedding coordinator. We selected linens, napkins, table arrangements, the order which things will go in on the day, and many other little decisions. Andrew was a great help with the design aspect. We set a table with the runners, napkins, mirrors, and centerpieces, and really got a feel for what it will look like in the atrium. I'm still not sure on the flowers, but that will come after the meeting with the florist. She was able to give us a timeline which will really help structure the day and keep us moving along time wise. By the end of the meeting my head was totally spinning. So many choices!
At ten weeks out, we still have a lot to do, but we're really making progress with our checklist!

Videographer contract
Fred found a videographer for us. She is a recent graduate of the Art Institute in Pittsburgh and is just getting started with wedding videos. I did see a sample from a wedding she did a few months ago, and it looked great! I'm excited for both her artistic style, and the fact that we'll be saving over $1,000 by not using a seasoned professional. Unlike my splurge on photography, I'm confident I can save money on the videography, because I really don't see us watching it very often.
Because she is so new, she didn't have a contract drawn up. Allie and I drafted a brief one, and I mailed it out to her today. Once she signs, we'll have another thing to cross off my list!

It's an MOH kind of Sunday
Today I met with both of my MOH Allison's.
First, I went to Allie and Mike's house to discuss the bridal shower. I found invites on etsy.com (of course) for both the shower and bachelorette party and just need a few details before ordering. My shower will be at the Lamplighter and I'm very excited to have so much help from Debbie, our manager. She's amazing and works so well with brides, and has been such a help to me already!
Allie and I discussed favors, shower games, and all the details involved. All the while, her amazing husband Mike painted the trim in the living room, maintained the logs in the fireplace, and started cooking their dinner. He's an engineer and has the best handwriting ever and offered to write the envelopes for our wedding invitations. As I said, he's amazing. We also reviewed my wedding checklist and prioritized the remaining items. Do you know what's fantastic? Having a Matron of Honor who is going into wedding planning, and already planned an amazing one for herself.
Once I left Allie's, I drove to Monroeville to meet ACP for sushi! We discussed the bachelorette party and plans for where I'd like to go. Also, I had asked her to look into accessories for the bridesmaids to wear. Allison has always had an eye for acessorizing, so I know she'll pick something perfect out!
Once I got home, I messaged the seller on etsy and gave her the final details. ACP is already sending out a preliminary email to the girls who will receive bachelorette party invites.
Looks like we are set for one fantastic, bridey, celebration-filled day!

Passport!
Today I applied for my very first passport! Fred and I went to the Post Office, filled out the form, got our picture taken, and wrote the check! I've never travelled out of the country (aside from Canada) and I'm so excited to get my passport stamped!
Choosing an outfit was quite a decision. I realize it's just one photo, and I'll probably rarely use it. But it's valid for ten years! I'll be using that picture until I'm almost 37!
The Postmaster said they've been shipping in as little as three weeks! I can't wait!

Today is fantastic!!!
Today I found the perfect, most adorable cake topper ever and I LOVE it.
Also today, my belt came in for my wedding dress! I can go pick it up whenever. Now that I have it, I can have Andrew start to make my wedding hair piece.
Also, I got the call that the bridesmaid applique is in! I will pick that up and have it made into a belt for the bridesmaids dresses. Now that I have it, I can pick jewelry out!
The sun is shining....it's 50 degrees out! I am in the best mood ever!!!!
